![]() With Dota 2 constantly peaking Steam's most-played charts, it's no surprise that Valve would want to make it its first Source 2-based game. We're sure the full reveal is due imminently, and this is definitely one to wait for. Valve's ultimate goal is to make its games accessible to as many people as possible. In between Fury combos, Marci is unable to attack for a duration. The last strike in every Fury combo creates a damaging pulse around the target. Valve has released an alpha build of its Dota 2 Workshop Tools which will enable folks to create. You'll remember that when Portal 2 was released, its graphics were far from top-rate, but that didn't dampen the quality of the game much at all. On the technical side, it's hard to say all of what this upgrade to the Source 2 engine will bring. Other improvements include being able to hook up with your friends easier, the ability to spectate a variety of matches with stats tracking, and much more. The entire UI is going to be overhauled, and Valve is striving to cater better to the noobie with far better training tools, which includes guided bot games. This revamp is a lot more than just improved graphics, though. It's important to note that Dota 2 Reborn isn't a sequel this major update will just be one of the many that have helped evolve the game. A full reveal is due this week, but what we know now is that the game will be updated to a "new engine", and it doesn't take much brain-power to realize that it's Source 2 involved. Valve initially showed off a Dota 2 demo running in the Source 2 engine back at the Game Developers Conference in March, although at the time the company had nothing further to announce. Thanks to the varied and action-packed gameplay of DOTA 2, it has also become a very popular game among eSports fans. In 2018, DOTA 2 averaged almost 455 thousand players per hour, beaten only by one of Steam’s jewels in the crown, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. ![]() The game is also very successful on the platform based on the hourly average number of players. DOTA 2 reached its record high peak concurrent player number in March 2016 at nearly 1.29 million gamers playing at the same time and still gets close to one million concurrent players most months. Given that both DOTA 2 and Steam share the same developer, it is unsurprising that the game is so successful on the platform. This marks an almost twofold increase on the revenue generated in 2015.
